Mundelein police to host Cops 'N' Bobbers

The Mundelein Police Department's 20th annual Cops 'N' Bobbers fishing derby is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 15, at the Mundelein Seminary, 1000 E. Maple Ave.

Parents can bring children ages 5-13 and their fishing poles to spend the morning fishing in a lake on the seminary property. The derby is a chance for families to have an enjoyable day and interact with Mundelein Police Department officers.

The lake will be stocked with sun fish and bait will be provided. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will supply a few fishing poles for those who do not have their own. Additionally, there will be a raffle drawing and prizes for the biggest fish, smallest fish and the most fish caught. The event is free and the first 100 children will get a free T-shirt.

Food and nonalcoholic beverages are allowed in the seminary, so families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. An adult must accompany all participants.

For information or to volunteer for the event, contact Officer Rachel Messina at (847) 968-4600 or visit www.mundelein.org/police.
