Libertyville Days Festival feature carnival rides, parade, pageant

Libertyville Days Festival kicks off the season with carnival rides, parade and pageant

The Libertyville Civic Center Foundation will host this year's Libertyville Days Festival Thursday through Sunday, June 15-18, in downtown Libertyville.

The festival kicks off Thursday, highlighted by the Miss Libertyville Pageants at 6:30 p.m. in Cook Park, sponsored by Emergency surgical services of Lake County LLC. Young women will compete for the titles of Little Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Libertyville.

Carnival rides and games will be provided each day by North American Midway Entertainment on Church Street and in the Civic Center municipal parking lot and Sunrise Rotary Park.

The carnival will be open from 6-10:30 p.m. Thursday, 1-11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1-5:30 p.m. Sunday. An Unlimited Ride Special will be available to ages 5 and older for $25 per person, per day from 6-10:30 p.m. Thursday, 1-6 p.m. Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5:30 p.m. Sunday. (Price subject to change.)

Church Street Eats will feature a variety of food and beverage selections from vendors including Angel's Concessions, BBQ'd Productions, Brother's Ribs, Crescent City Cajun, Domino's Pizza, El Barrio, HSK funnel cakes and ice cream, Lee Concessions, Luke's, Old Texas Soda Co., Rosati's Pizza and Something Sweet Lemonade.

Church Street Eats will be offered from 5-11 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. Sunday on West Church Street, between Brainerd and Milwaukee avenues. A Beer Garden will also be held from 5-11 p.m. Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. Sunday in the Civic Center parking lot, offering beer, wine, water and soft drinks. All ages are welcome until 7:30 p.m. each day.

An Arts & Crafts Fair will open Friday in Cook Park with local artists, crafters and nonprofit organizations exhibiting. The fair will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Other Friday activities include a children's cookie bake off at 3 p.m. and a live remote with 102.3 XLC at 6 p.m.

Saturday's activities will include a parade featuring several marching bands, Shriner groups, clowns, horses and more. The parade is planned from 10 a.m. to noon starting at the Libertyville Metra Train Station, 200 Lake St., Libertyville, and heading south on Milwaukee Avenue to Rockland Road. A Fireman's Rib Cook-Off will be at 1 p.m. and local teen bands will be showcased at 6 p.m.

Sunday events include a car show from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., watermelon and hot dog eating contests, and a baggo tournament at 1 p.m.

A variety of entertainment will be on hand in Cook Park and on the festival Main Stage, with different acts each day, including performances by the McNulty Irish Dancers; a Lake County Sheriff's K-9 demonstration; performances by the Illinois Brass Band, Rollover with Louie Zagoras, Mellencougar, Wheelhouse and more.

The Libertyville Civic Center is at 135 W. Church St., Libertyville. Cook Park is at 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.
