Free document shredding offered May 20 at St. Charles Police Department

The St. Charles Police Department and KCT Credit Union are hosting a free document shredding event to help residents keep important information out of the hands of identity thieves.

The city's shredding contractor, ProShred, will set up in the St. Charles Police Department parking lot, 211 N. Riverside Ave., from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20. ProShred has been in business for more than 25 years and is the most certified shredding company in the industry.

Securely dispose of confidential paperwork, including the following:

• Bank statements;

• Credit card statements/applications;

• Social security information;

• Medicare/Medicaid information.

This event is open to individuals only. No business documents will be accepted. There is no limit to what you can bring to have shredded. For more information, contact the police department at police@stcharlesil.gov or (630) 377-4435.
