Willow Creek to host author, singer for Mother's Day services

Willow Creek Community Church hosts an opportunity to treat, honor and celebrate some of the most important women in our lives - Mothers - with fun and inspiring Mother's Day weekend services at 5:30 p.m. Saturday May 13 and 9 and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday May 14, at the church, 67 E. Algonquin Road, in South Barrington.

The New York Times best-selling author of "Present Over Perfect," Shauna Niequist, will treat attendees to a memorable church service. Just on the heels of being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey for a SuperSoul Sunday episode airing on OWN this summer, Niequist's message will touch on creating supportive communities around Moms, a population that so often takes on too much.

"You don't have to carry it alone - not the good stuff, not the hard stuff. We were made to carry it all together," says Niequist.

In addition, award-winning singer/songwriter, Meredith Andrews will lead worship, and following each service, Niequist will take part in a book signing for "Present Over Perfect."

To show appreciation for Moms in honor of the occasion, each woman in attendance will

receive a handmade gift from mothers in Ghana.

Niequist is The New York Times best-selling author of "Cold Tangerines," "Bittersweet," "Bread & Wine," "Savor" and "Present Over Perfect." Niequist grew up in Barrington, and is the daughter of Willow Creek Community Church Senior Pastor Bill Hybels. She and her husband Aaron live outside Chicago with their sons, Henry and Mac. Niequist is a bookworm, a beach bum and a passionate gatherer of people, especially around the table.

Dove Award-winning contemporary Christian music artist and worship leader Meredith Andrews, was born and raised in Wilson, North Carolina. A singer from the age of 6, Andrews released her debut solo album, "Mesmerized," in 2005. She received her first Dove Award nomination in 2008, for her sophomore outing "The Invitation," and took home the award for Praise & Worship Album of the Year in 2010 for "As Long as it Takes." Her fourth studio album, "Worth It All," followed in 2013, and cracked the Billboard 200. Later that year, she issued a reverent Christmas EP titled "Behold the Savior," and her fifth full-length outing, "Deeper," arrived in early 2016. Andrews has always had a gift for writing honest, compelling songs that resonate powerfully with an audience.
