Glenbard South to present 'The Comedy of Errors'

William Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" is presented by the Glenbard South High School Theatre Department as its spring play.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, in the school's theater at 23W200 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. Tickets, $7, are available by calling (630) 942-6695.

"The Comedy of Errors" is described as one of the earliest, shortest and most farcical plays of Shakespeare's career. The play begins with Antipholus of Syracuse on his quest to find his long-lost twin brother. Antipholus and his servant, Dromio, wash up on the shore of the seaside town of Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of both Antipholus and Dromio's identical twin brothers.

Both sets of twins endure a montage of mistaken identities and a series of encounters with Ephesus' unusual residents that results in wacky comedy.

The cast features C.J. D'Agostino as Antipholous of Syracuse, Catherine Andres as Dromio of Syracuse, Vince Cascio as Balthazar, Mary Kate Cooke as Abbess Aemilia, Ryan Cosillo as First Merchant, Syndey Fabis as Angelo, Miram Gamboa as Courtezan, Julianna Gutierrez as Dromio of Ephesus, Sam Hume as Second Merchant, Olivia Janicke as Headsman, Jillian Lawrence as Messenger, Maggie Micklo as Adriana, Kurt Ollech as Officer, Joanna Nenova as Pinch, Melissa Padera as Duchess, Nicole Palmieri as Luce, Gabi Pierotti as Luciana, Ian Rose as Antipholous of Ephesus, Daniel Swarts as Egeon, and Chris Woods as Jailer.

The show is stage managed by Jojo Wallenberg, with assistant stage managers Jacob Oates and Keeler Smaistrla.

The show is directed by Glenbard South theater director Aimee-Lynn Newlan, with technical direction by Marissa Gil, lighting and sound by Stephanie Wallace, costumes by Ellen Hill and specialty makeup and props by Brad Newlan.
