Mundelein High to host Bear Necessities volleyball match
The Mundelein High School boys volleyball program will host a Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation match against Antioch High School at 5 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the main gym.
In addition to raising funds for the foundation, the match will be in memory of Noah Baker, son of MHS teacher Maureen Baker, and Ian Turkula, a 2013 graduate who lost his fight to brain cancer in January 2014. Both families will be in attendance at the game.
During the evening, a 50/50 raffle will take place and Bear Necessities bears will be available for a $20 donation. Donations to enter will be $3 for children and $5 for adults.
"Please partner with the volleyball program to help fight cancer and find a cure by attending the game and by donating in support of Noah and Ian's memory," MHS varsity volleyball coach George Dressen said.
"Donations may be made to the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, who supported them and their families during their battle with cancer."
Donations may also be made any time up to the event at the MHS bookstore during school hours. They are tax deductible and checks should be made to the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
"This is going to be a special night," Dressen said. "Please be a part of it."
