Softball: Joliet Catholic sweeps St. Viator
Joliet Catholic swept a softball doubleheader from visiting St. Viator on Tuesday with 16-0 and 12-0 five-inning triumphs.
Senior Maggie VanValkenburg and junior Nicole Ardito each had 3 hits on the day for the Lions, who stand at 3-8 and 0-2 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference. Junior Morgan Bielfeldt had a double in Game 2.
Addison Trail 12, Hoffman Estates 2 (5 inn.): Freshman Ryan Cloherty went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the visiting Hawks (0-6).
Emily Gross, Brianna Venegas, Emiy Morris Ayanna Ward (double), Gracie Velasquez and Yaya Nieves added a hit each for Hoffman in the nonconference game.
