Baseball: Jacobs topples Crystal Lake South
Liam Oreskovich had 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Daniel Murray added a 2-run home run Thursday to propel Jacobs to a 6-3 Fox Valley Conference baseball win over Crystal Lake South.
Anthony Wilson picked up the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles (9-5, 7-2), going 5 innings and allowing 5 hits and no earned runs while striking out 5 and walking 1.
Blake Kuffel had 2 hits and 2 RBI for CL South (5-7, 3-5). Noah Tyrell added a double for the Gators.
Prairie Ridge 14, Dundee-Crown 3: The Chargers (4-13, 2-8) had just 4 hits in this FVC loss. Erik Hedmark had a hit and an RBI for D-C.
St. Charles East 10, Larkin 1: Pat Griffin and Thomas Schroeder each had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead the Saints (10-6, 8-2) in the Upstate Eight River. Clay Conn had 3 hits and Cole Conn added 2 hits for SCE while Drew Conn had 3 hits with a double. Jeremy Cox earned the win, allowing 2 hits with 7 strikeouts in 4 innings. Kobe Mounivong had a double and an RBI for Larkin (6-9, 4-7).
Geneva 11, Streamwood 1: Nick Black (3 hits, 3 RBI) and Dominic Guido (2 hits, 2 RBI) each had a double and a home run for Geneva (8-6, 5-4) in its UEC River win. Cullen Geary added 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Vikings. Ian Hanson picked up the win, going 4 innings and allowing 1 hit. Anthony Caruso had an RBI for Streamwood (8-7, 4-6).
Glenbard East 5, Bartlett 0: Ben Fisher had a double for Bartlett (2-11, 1-5) in its UEC Valley loss.
Burlington Central 10, Woodstock North 7: The Rockets (11-5, 8-0) stayed unbeaten in the Kishwaukee River Conference as Andrew Griffin had 2 hits with a home run and 3 RBI. Adam Finestein added 2 RBI and Nick Matijevic had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Danny Kinney earned the win in relief.
Harvest Christian 7, Aurora Christian 3: Jack Nohava had 3 hits with a double and Dayne Frederick added 2 doubles and an RBI as Harvest Christian (11-6, 7-2) won in the Northeastern Athletic Conference. Winning pitcher Zach Pawelek added 3 hits with a double and an RBI for the Lions while Gilbert Duran had a double and 4 RBI. Eric Hernandez (3 hits, 2B), MJ Stavola (2 hits), Jake Kuntzendorf (2B), Zach Zavasnik (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Trey Madsen (2 hits) and Clark Turek (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) led Aurora Christian (13-2, 4-1).
Elgin Academy 10, Latin 2: Jonathan Cruz had 3 hits with a double and an RBI and threw 6 innings, allowing 6 hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Hilltoppers (12-3, 6-1) to an Independent School League win. Ethan Hill added 2 doubles and 2 RBI for EA and Reece Zonts drove in 2 runs.

Panico went 4 innings allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks to earn the win.
Wheaton Academy 7, St. Edward 6: Mike Lopez had 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI, Danny Camarena added 2 hits and Joey Mandarino had a double for St. Edward (3-17, 1-6) in its Metro Suburban loss.
Chicago Christian 14, ACC 10: Chicago Christian scored 9 runs in the top of the seventh inning to win this Metro Suburban game. Kyle Czerak (2 hits), Alex Rakas (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI), Chris Cartwright (2 hits, RBI), Eric Valles (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI) and Mac Doherty (2B) led Aurora Central (12-9, 4-7).
Elgin 3, Hoffman Estates 1: In nonconference action, Matthew Turner allowed 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in 5 innings to lead the Maroons (4-13) to the win. John Fortmann (2 hits), Tim Mitchell (2B) and Kejuan Harvey (3B) led the Elgin offense.
