Softball: Meyer masterful in Barrington victory

Tori Meyer threw the first perfect game for Barrington's softball program in five years as the Fillies blanked visiting Rolling Meadows 16-0 in five innings on Tuesday.

The junior right-hander, who will play softball at DePaul, struck out seven as she raised her record to 4-0 following the Mid-Suburban League crossover game at the Fields of Dreams.

Barrington improved to 10-0 and 3-0 in the Mid-Suburban West while Rolling Meadows stands at 3-5 and 1-2 in the MSL East.

Loyola junior pitcher Keenan Dolezal threw a perfect game for the Fillies (seven innings) on May 13, 2013.

Junior Katherine Stagnito will also remember Tuesday's game as she belted her first varsity home run, a 3-run shot in the Fillies' 7-run second inning.

Multiple hitters for Barrington were Samantha Murphy (3-for-4, 3 double, 4 RBI), Meyer (2-for-3, double, 3 RBI) and Catherine McMahon (2-for-3, 2 runs). Caroline Hoppe and Kendall Peterson had doubles for the Fillies who had 12 hits.

Cary-Grove 12, Buffalo Grove 1 (5 inn): Jackie Bickhaus went 2-for-3 and scored the run for visiting Buffalo Grove (2-5) in the nonconference game. Megan Fontanetta (RBI), Olivia Morini and Katelyn O'Rourke also had hits for BG.
