Baseball: Anderson, Larkin stymie Streamwood
Max Anderson allowed just 4 hits and 1 earned run in 6⅓ innings Tuesday to lead Larkin to a 5-2 win over Streamwood in Upstate Eight River baseball action.
Anderson also had a double and 2 RBI for the Royals (4-2).
Max Wiskirchen added a double for Larkin and Cy Kerber had 2 hits and an RBI.
Max Alanis tripled for Streamwood (5-2).
Batavia 10, Elgin 0: Brad Niedzwiedz gave up just 2 hits and had 3 strikeouts and no walks in six innings for the Bulldogs in their UEC River win. Leading Batavia (4-2) offensively were Michael Niemiec (2B, 3B, RBI), Jared Martin (3 hits, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Carter Gette (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Justin Pelley (2B, 2 RBI) and Blake Carlson (2B, RBI).
Burlington Central 6, Woodstock 2: Ryan Knowlton had 2 RBI and pitched 6 innings, allowing 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks for the Rockets (5-4) in their Kishwaukee River win. Paddy McKermitt added 2 hits and an RBI for BC while Colton Wallace had a double and an RBI and Zach Schutta 2 RBI.
Jacobs 4, CL Central 3: Braeden Wegner had a home run, Daniel Murray 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Daniel Klein a double for Jacobs, which scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to earn this Fox Valley Conference win. Murray was also the winning pitcher for the Golden Eagles (3-2, 1-0), allowing 4 hits and no earned runs in 5 innings on the hill.
Prairie Ridge 10, Hampshire 6: Benjamin Corcelles had 3 hits with an RBI, Andrew Krajecki a double and 2 RBI and Nicholas Tenny 2 hits for Hampshire (7-4) in its FVC loss.
McHenry 4, Cary-Grove 3: McHenry scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Cary-Grove (6-2-1) in the FVC. Billy Blank had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for the Trojans and Tristan Atkins added 3 hits.
Harvest Christian 5, Westminster Christian 3: In the Northeastern Athletic Conference, Zack Pawelek (2 hits, RBI), Brock Wilken (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Grant Young (2B) and Dayne Frederick (3B) helped Harvest to the win. Young was the winning pitcher in relief for the Lions (6-2). Nathen Martinez had 2 hits and an RBI and JT Stoll added a double for Westminster (3-7).
Yorkville 7, Kaneland 5: Luke Gomes (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Robbie Dudzinski (2 hits, 2 RBI) led Kaneland (5-3) in this Northern Illinois Big XII East loss.
Elgin Academy 7, Latin 3: CJ Carani had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI for EA (7-2) in the Independent School League. Jonathan Cruz, who added 2 hits, was the winning pitcher after going 6⅓ innings and allowing 5 hits with 9 strikeouts and 3 walks.
Benet 4, West Aurora 3: Alberto Martinez (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Alec Losselyoung (2 hits, RBI) led West Aurora (6-1) in a nonconference loss.
Aurora Christian 28, South Beloit 0: In the NAC, MJ Stavola had 4 hits with a double, triple and 4 RBI for Aurora Christian (5-1). Also productive for the Eagles were Trey Madsen (3 RBI), Sam Tickel (2 doubles, 4 RBI), Zach Zavasnik (2 hits, RBI), Clark Turek (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Jake Kuntzendorf (2B, RBI), Hunter Thompson (2B, 2 RBI), Nick Ports (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Eric Hernandez (3 hits, 3 RBI). Kuntzendorf was the winning pitcher, one of three AC hurlers who combined on a 1-hitter.
