Softball: Grant slugs past Antioch

Megan Mitchell (3 RBI), Calista Warmowski (triple, double), Sarah Gallivan and Sydney Goessele (4 RBI) each went 2-for-4, and Grant's softball team defeated Antioch 13-10 in a Northern Lake County Conference opener on Thursday.

Antioch walked Grant slugger Erin Bengston four times. Maddie Quinn came off the bench and delivered a 2-run single.

Goessele earned the win, allowing 4 earned runs.

Grayslake Central 10, Round Lake 0: Brooke Heraty was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Corinne Heidlofff struck out 11 batters in a five-inning complete game, as the Rams won the Northern Lake County game.

Morgan Smigielski (double), Elisa Koshy (double, 2 RBI) and Nicole Warren (triple) had extra-base hits for Grayslake Central.

Round Lake's only hits came from Sydney Verastegui and Lina Navarrete.

Warren 6, Libertyville 3: Kayla Nommensen homered for the Blue Devils in the North Suburban Conference opener.

Warren got doubles from winning pitcher Caitlyn Britton, Becca Geiyer (2-for-3) and Emma Gratz.

For Libertyville, Julia Zinkewich was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Sarah Bennett doubled as well.
