Girls soccer: St. Edward wins season opener

The St. Edward girls soccer team finally played and won their first game of the season Monday, beating IC Catholic 3-1 in Metro Suburban action. This came after the Green Wave's first 3 scheduled games were all canceled.

The Wave (1-0, 1-0) didn't seem to be bothered by the layoff, as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the half and were led by Rachel Martini, who recorded 1 goal and 1 assist. Maddie and Katie Ellsworth each had 1 goal, Madalynn Duffy provided 1 assist and keeper Mariel Franco protected the Wave with 5 saves.
