Baseball: West Aurora moves to 5-0

Jacob Gray threw a complete game 3-hitter Thursday as West Aurora's baseball team defeated Oswego East 4-1 to move to 5-0 for the season.

Gray struck out four and walked one.

Dustin Thomas had 2 RBI for the Blackhawks while Cam Zimmerman also drove in a run.

Huntley 14, DeKalb 2: A.J. Henkle (2 RBI), Matt Rodriguez (RBI) and Hunter Rumachik each had 2 hits for Huntley (7-1). Nick Laxner went 4 innings and allowed 3 hits for the win.

Hampshire 8, Woodstock North 7: Ryan Korabik reached on an error and pinch runner Caden Pyszka scored on Nicholas Tenny's double in the bottom of the seventh inning to life Hampshire (6-2) to the win. Tenny had 3 doubles and 3 RBI in the game while Matthew Jachec (2B, RBI), Benjamin Corcelles (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and winning pitcher Andrew Krajecki each added doubles for the Whip-Purs.

Kaneland splits: After falling to Normal West 9-6, the Knights came back with a 14-3 win over Yorkville. In that win, Anthony Padula had a 3-run home run while Brett Wallner had 2 hits with a double and 4 RBI. Josh Dresmal added a double and an RBI and Logan Piercy had a double. Joe Such was the winning pitcher. In the loss to Normal West, Nik Panico (HR), Padula (2 RBI) and Dalton Askew (2 hits, 2B, HR) led the offense for Kaneland (5-2).

Gadsden (NM) 6, Westminster Christian 5: Mason Runkel (2 doubles, 2 RBI), Nathen Martinez (2B, RBI) and JT Stoll (2 hits) led Westminster Christian (3-6).

Addison Trail 3, Streamwood 1: Chris Randel and Cody Motykowski had the only hits for Streamwood (5-1).

Fenton 12, St. Edward 11: The Green Wave scored 5 runs in the top of the seventh to tie this Metro Suburban game but Fenton won it with a run in the bottom of the inning. Ethan Palomino had 4 hits with 2 doubles and an RBI to lead St. Edward (2-7) while Andrew Johnson (2 RBI), Mike Lopez (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Joey Mandarino (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Jack Olson (3 hits, 2 RBI) and Matthew Schimbke (3B, RBI) also contributed.

Harvest Christian 21, Christian Liberty 9: Jack Nohava (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Brock Wilken (RBI) each had triples to lead Harvest to the Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Also producing for the Lions (5-2) were Gilbert Duran (2 hits, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Drew Lewis (2 hits, 2B, 4 RBI), Dylan Lockwood (2 hits, RBI), Nate Martinez (2 RBI), Zach Pawelek (2 hits, 2 RBI), Joey Pepper (3 hits, RBI) and Grant Young (2B).

Indian Creek 5, Elgin Academy 3: Colin Konicek had 2 hits for EA (4-2).
