Softball: Britton helps Warren blank Oak Park
Caitlyn Britton fired a 4-hit shutout, and Warren's softball team defeated Oak Park 3-0 at The Dome in Rosemont on Tuesday.
Britton struck out three and walked two, as the Blue Devils improved to 4-1.
Claire Swedberg (2-for-3) and Becca Geiyer (RBI) both had triples for Warren, which scored all of its runs in the fourth.
Libertyville 11, Whitney Young 0: Maggie Evers homered, singled and drove in 3 runs, and Sarah Bennett pitched a six-inning shutout for the Wildcats.
Chloe Beck was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for Libertyville, and Hannah Hiscox went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Bennett allowed 3 hits, struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
Carmel 6, Summit 1: In North Shores, Ala., in their first of two games on the day, the Corsairs got a strong effort in the circle from Marla Walinski against their Alabama opponent.
Emily Haley was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Walinski knocked in a run as well, and Emy Krysa scored twice for Carmel.
Carmel 2, John Carroll 1: The Corsairs won their second game of the day in Alabama, as Sydney Schuda earned the win and helped her own cause by belting a 2-run homer.
Walinski went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored, as Carmel improved to 5-3.
Enterprise 5, Vernon Hills 4: In North Shores, Ala., in their first of two games on the day, the Cougars lost in four innings. despite Elisa Handler's 3-for-3 day at the plate.
Tatiana Guletsky had a single and 2 RBI for Vernon Hills, and Delaney Bowen (RBI) and Mackenzie Mahler both doubled.
Sparkman 10, Vernon Hills 7: In North Shores, Ala., Elisa Handler homered, singled and drove in 2 runs, as the Cougars lost their second game of the day.
Quin Yuter doubled twice and drove in a run. Madison Johnson also had 2 hits and an RBI, and Brooke Pieper had a double.
Oldham County 14, Mundelein 4: Allison Lambert was 2-for-3 in the Mustangs' loss.
Kira Buckner (1-for-3) and Molly Podraza (1-for-2) each had an RBI for Mundelein.
