Hill drives in game-winner for Cary-Grove

Emma Hill's single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Katy Wierczorek with the winning run as Cary-Grove's softball team downed Carmel 4-3 in a nonconference game Monday.

Hill, who had 2 hits including a double and 3 RBI in the game, was also the Trojans' winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Wierczorek had 3 hits with a double and Kelly Johnson added a 2 hits with a double and an RBI.

Belvidere North 18, Larkin 17: Haley Bohne (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI), Gloria Stoltz (2B, HR, 3 RBI), Kiara Villa 2 hits, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI), Katie Turner (2 hits, 2 RBI), and Abbie Stout (2 hits, 2 RBI) led Larkin in this nonconference loss.

CL South 12, Richmond-Burton 9: Christina Toniolo and Brooke Kuffel each had 3 hits as Crystal Lake South won this nonconfernce game. Toniolo had a double and 2 RBI while Kuffel drove in 3 runs for the Gators (1-0). Maddie Bush (3B. 2 RBI), Emily Sulikowski (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI) and Kyra Swartz (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI) also contributed to the offense.
