Baseball: Wizceb helps pitch Vernon Hills past Hoffman Estates
Vernon Hills' baseball team improved to 3-1 on the season after picking up a 9-3 victory against Hoffman Estates in nonconference play Saturday.
Danny Wizceb earned the win, allowing just 1 earned run in four innings.
Jack Peterson pitched 3 innings of relief for the Cougars.
Offensively, Jake Morris had 2 hits and drove in a run. He also had a stolen base.
Jack Barsczc added a double and drove in 2 runs for the Cougars.
Warren 8, Deerfield 2: Sam Deluca went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Warren.
Brad Vondruska, Jacob Nitch and Colin Spranger all had doubles as well, and Spranger drove in 2 runs.
Pitcher Pasquale DeFilippis got the win for Warren while Reece Lawler got the save.
Grayslake North 7, Zion-Benton 0: Grayslake North rolled up 9 hits in the win.
Nick Lovitsch led the way with 2 hits and 3RBI while Andrew Keaskowski and Nate Marshall each chipped in with 2 hits as well.
Pitcher Edward Erickson got the win with 2 strikeouts and just 1 walk over five innings.
Grant 13, Lane Tech 2: Grant won its first game of the season as winning pitcher Nick Malmberg gave up just 1 hit over three innings.
