Girls gymnastics: Duo leads Maine South to Candy Cane victory at Hersey

Maine South gymnasts Caleigh Pistorius and Collette Roth earned the top two all-around finishes in the Michael Meyer Candy Cane Invite hosted by Hersey on Saturday, helping the Hawks to the team title in a 13-team field.
Maine South finished at 141.925, ahead of Mundelein (133.70), Hersey (131.30), Neuqua Valley (130.875), Buffalo Grove (129.70) and York (124.50).
Pistorius had an all-around total of 37.425, with Roth at 36.950.
Hersey's Mackenzie Kamysz placed third in the all-around with 36.675. Her best even finish came on balance beam, where she was second at 9.45. Roth won the beam with a 9.50.
Pistorius and Roth went 1-2 on uneven bars (9.3 and 9.2), and Pistorius won floor exercise with 9.50.
Mundelein's Emma Hallin had the top vault effort, 9.65. Amanda Muench had the Mustangs' best all-around score of 33.050.
Neuqua Valley's Jane Riehs placed fourth in the all-around (36.325), and Naperville North's Kelsey Sumser was fifth (35.750).
