Girls volleyball: Wauconda wins NLCC finale
Nicole Callahan and Riley Aldrich had 5 and 4 kills, respectively, and Wauconda's girls volleyball team defeated Grayslake Central 25-17, 25-17 in the teams' Northern Lake County Conference finale Thursday night.
Jane Sakowicz tallied 12 digs and served 2 aces for Wauconda (18-15, 5-2), and Summer Olsen dished out 13 assists.
Cassidy Beshel slammed 13 kills for Grayslake Central (22-13, 4-3). Elisa Koshy (3 kills, 2 blocks) and Michelle Maraist (3 blocks) were among the Rams' other contributors. Junior Amber Moser was named the Rams' recipient of the NLCC sportsmanship award.
"Amber is a great athlete and an even better person," Grayslake Central coach Jason Janczak said. "She truly embodies the spirit of sportsmanship we expect from all of our GCHS volleyball players. She is very well deserving of this award."
Antioch d. Grayslake North: The Sequoits rallied to win the Northern Lake County finale 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, spoiling the Knights' Senior Night.
Grayslake North was led by Jessica Pozezinski (5 kills), Lindsey Deip (10 assists), Erin McBriarty (19 digs) and Lexie Baker (10 digs).
