Girls volleyball: Lakes clinches in NLCC
Erica Grant pounded 11 kills, Katie Billetdeaux added five, and Lakes' girls volleyball team defeated visiting Antioch 25-20, 25-12 Wednesday night to secure the Northern Lake County Conference championship.
Lakes improved to 20-2 and 5-0 in the NLCC.
Rachel Orpano and Devinn Bell each dished out 11 assists for the Eagles. Bell also served 3 aces. Keelan Bell contributed 2 kills and 2 aces, and Alyssa Bombicino tallied 11 digs.
Antioch (17-9-1, 2-3) was led by Kennedy Moll (12 assists, 2 kills), Cenie Frieson (11 kills, 7 digs, 2 assists) and Brianna Vettese (12 digs, 2 assists).
Libertyville d. Mundelein: The host Wildcats prevailed 20-25, 25-18, 25-20 in a "Dig Pink" event, as the two rivals joined forces to combat breast cancer prior to the North Suburban Conference match.
Kailey Christianson dished out 27 assists for Libertyville, which also got 25 digs from Morgan DeGregor. Maggie Everts had 7 kills, while Anna Valente, Madison O'Brien and Kellie Hopper each had five. Hopper also delivered 4 aces.
Mundelein (9-14, 2-3) received 7 kills from Taylor Heath, 5 kills from Gillian Paul and 3 aces from Diana Orozco.
Lake Zurich d. Stevenson: The visiting Bears won 25-20, 25-15 to improve to 5-0 in the North Suburban Conference.
Sophie Sorenson had 7 kills for Stevenson (13-9, 3-2). Becca Sullivan had 2 aces and 8 digs for the Patriots, who also got 4 kills from Lily Cozzi. Alex Cuc lofted 13 assists.
Grayslake Central d. North Chicago: The Rams won 25-3, 25-9 to improve to 17-9 and 3-1 in the Northern Lake County Conference
Grayslake Central was paced by Lizzie Twardock (3 kills, 8 assists, 4 aces), Amber Moser (3 kills, 2 aces), Kate Bullman (2 kills, 2 aces) and Lauren Marcelain (2 kills).
Warren d. Waukegan: Dana Lundtveit's 11 kills and 2 blocks helped the Blue Devils win 25-8, 25-19 in North Suburban Conference action.
Warren (19-7, 3-1) also received 16 assists from Allison Maan de kok, 5 kills from Ella White, 3 kills from Jessica Weinberg and 3 aces from Hannah Barbosa.
