Girls tennis: Stevenson completes unbeaten run

Stevenson's girls tennis team edged visiting New Trier 5-3 on Tuesday at the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex to clinch its second consecutive unbeaten dual-match season and third in the last four years.

Zoe Taylor captured a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, as the Patriots improved to 18-0 with their 33rd consecutive win dating back to October of 2015. Stevenson tied the school record for victories in a season,

The Patriots' other winners were Athena Kolli at No. 2 singles, Ellen Ma at No. 3 singles, Brownwyn Heidkamp/Alyssa Glaser at No. 2 doubles and Sam Burger/Ambika Singh at No. 3 doubles.

Stevenson competes in the North Suburban Conference tournament Friday and Saturday at the VHAC.

Wauconda 5, Woodstock 2: Sarah Hackman won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs, who captured three of the four doubles matches as well.

Wauconda's Morgan Bilancia was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 2 singles. The Bulldogs' doubles winners were Hayley Hausherr/Taylor Splingaire (No. 1), Spozmai Khan/Grace Lewandowski (No. 2) and Katie Giever/Ana Ortiz (No. 3).

Grayslake Central 5, Vernon Hills 2: The Rams improved to 14-1 with the nonconference win.

Grayslake Central singles players Lia Boucek (No. 1), Mia Falconi (No. 2) and Jenna Smith (No. 3) all won in straight sets. The Rams' doubles teams of Veronica Mussay/Anna O'Keefe (No. 2) and Erica Joo/Charlie Bloede (No. 3) were also straight-set winners.
