Girls volleyball: Hersey falls in three to Stevenson

One week after defeating Palatine from the Mid-Suburban West in three sets, Stevenson's girls volleyball team ventured into the other half of the MSL.

This time, it was 13-time defending East champion Hersey.

And once again the Patriots girls volleyball team came away with a three-set nonconference triumph.

Led by Sophie Sorenson (14 kills), Rochester recruit Hope Havenhill (8 kills) and Lily Cozzi (7 kills), Stevenson pulled out a 23-25, 25-17, 26-24 triumph over the Huskies in Lincolnshire.

Setter Alex Cuc added 30 assists for the Patriots, who improved to 13-8.

The Huskies (15-5) were led on attack by Kati Kaburov (14 kills), Amy Morgan (10) and Alessia Olhava (5).

Hayley Martin, Juliette Vandenherik and Janine Boyan each chipped in 2.

Olhava (17 assists) and Emma Strozewski (13 assists) set the attack while Molly Twohig paced the back row with 21 digs, followed by Strozewski (12), Olhava (12), Morgan (10) an Kaburov (6).
