Boys soccer: Geneva shuts out South Elgin; Elgin loses 1st

The Geneva boys soccer team improved to 6-1-1 as it blanked South Elgin 5-0 in Upstate Eight crossover action Thursday.

Eric Anderson provided 2 goals while Nick Dispensa accounted for 1 goal and 1 assist. Jack Belloli and Sean Geismann also added goals while Jack Cottrell and Ivan Vilchis tallied assists. Goalkeeper Jeffrey Bode notched a 3-save shutout.

East Aurora 1, Elgin 0: The Maroons' undefeated streak came to an end in a UEC crossover upset. Despite 7 corner kicks, Elgin fell to 7-1-2 overall as East Aurora's deciding goal came in the second half.

West Aurora 2, Batavia 1: The Blackhawks moved to 10-1-1 overall after beating the Bulldogs in UEC crossover action. Patience Yuha and Andy Emile posted goals for West Aurora.

Kaneland 5, Rochelle 4: In NI Big XII action, Zach Smith's goal in the 66th minute gave the Knights (5-3-1, 2-1) a comeback victory. Kaneland rallied from a 2-0 deficit to grab a 3-2 lead at the half. Smith totaled 2 goals while Brian Bartholomew netted 1 goal and 2 assists. Tucker Jahns tallied 1 goal and 1 assist and John McCaffrey contributed 1 goal. Allen Dominguez also had an assist.

Harvest Christian 3, Westminster Christian 2: The Lions (5-1-2, 2-0) not only overcame a 2-1 deficit at the half, but their archrivals as well in Northeastern Athletic action. Owen Pisha, Daniel Doby and Eric Oehler each scored goals for the Lions (5-1-2, 2-0) while Pisha and J.T. Frantz provided assists. Matt Baron made 9 saves in net for the Lions.

Lake Park 6, CL South 1: Nikolas Getzinger gave South (6-4-1) its only goal in the first half but it escalated quickly for the Gators thereafter. Lake Park extended its 2-1 halftime lead with 4 goals in the second half to give CLS its second-straight PepsiCo loss.

Harvard 2, Huntley 1: The Red Raiders (4-7) dropped this PepsiCo match after leading 1-0 at the half on Drew Landoch's goal. Kyle Owens had 1 assist in the loss.

McHenry 4, Cary-Grove 1: The Warriors proved to be too much for the Trojans (1-5-1, 0-2) in Fox Valley action as Sam Carhart provided C-G's only goal in the first half.

Plainfield South 2, Bartlett 1: The Hawks (0-6-3) fell in nonconference action despite a goal by Hernan Garcia in the 46th minute. Brandon Palid had 1 assist.
