It's a Lester-Contreras battery for Cubs in finale with White Sox

Catcher Willson Contreras returns to the Chicago Cubs lineup for Thursday night's series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Cubs took sole possession of first place in the National League Central with an 8-3 victory Wednesday over the Sox.

Contreras, who has 16 home runs, got Wednesday night off in favor of Victor Caratini.

Kyle Schwarber remains the designated hitter while Ben Zobrist moves up to the leadoff spot. Jon Jay, who made a spectacular running catch Wednesday night to rob Melky Cabrera of extra bases, is in left field again. Jay has a batting line of .304/.393/.397.

Cubs starting pitchers are 9-0 with a 2.50 ERA since the all-star break. Jon Lester, who has 2 quality starts since the break, starts Thursday night.
