Baseball: Leyden advances to regional final

Leyden and Maine East got an early start on their Class 4A regional championship matchup at Maine South.
The Eagles were ready, scoring 5 runs over the first two innings before cruising past Maine East 9-0 on Friday.
Kevin Nevarez was dominant on the mound for Leyden, striking out six and allowing 2 hits.
Michael Wilms finished 2-for-4 and drove in 2 runs, and Brian Szopinski had 2 hits.
Matt Ozanic walked twice and finished 1-for-3 with 3 RBI.
Fifth-seeded Leyden (22-6-2) advances to a 10 a.m. Saturday regional championship game against No. 4 seed Evanston at Maine South.
