Softball: St. Charles North, South Elgin, Geneva roll to wins

Grace Sobeski had 4 hits and an RBI while Allison Moberg (HR, 2 RBI), Jordyn Wolfe (2 RBI), Jillian Waslawski (3 RBI) and Maddie Webb (3 RBI) had 3 hits each for St. Charles North (16-9, 10-6) in a 17-2 Upstate Eight River softball win Wednesday.

Grace Quinn and Jessica Wilson (2B, 4 RBI) added 2 hits each. Waslawski was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

South Elgin 18, East Aurora 4: McKayla Timmons had 3 hits with a home run, a double and 4 RBI and Alivia Doyle added 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Storm to a UEC Valley win. Casey Brennan added 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI, Mariah Spivey had 2 hits and 3 RBI, Haley Szubert 2 hits and an RBI, Bri Pena 2 hits and 2 RBI, Sami Koss 2 hits and an RBI and Julianna Battaglia 2 hits with a double and an RBI. Allison Kaiser was the winning pitcher.

South Elgin 15, East Aurora 0: In a game called after three innings, Sami Koss allowed just 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk for South Elgin (17-12, 11-5). Erin Bradford has 2 hits with a home run and 3 RBI for the Storm while Casey Brennan (3 hits, 3 RBI), Alivia Doyle (2 hits, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI) and Allison Kaiser (2 hits, 2B, RBI) also contributed.

Geneva 14, Elgin 1: Katie Keller, Annika Radabaugh, Kaitlyn Plocinski, Alyssa Kramer and Ali Dierks all hit home runs for Geneva (28-2, 17-0) in its UEC River triumph. Keller and Kate Geary each had doubles for the Vikings, who got a 4-hitter from Emily Viebrock in the circle.

West Aurora 13, Glenbard East 1: Payton Lundberg struck out 12 and allowed 1 hit in 4⅔ innings as West Aurora (27-7, 15-2) won this UEC Valley game. Hannah Beatus had a homer for the Blackhawks while Lundberg and Grace Hunger doubled.

Dundee-Crown 10, Sycamore 5: Andrea Conway (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Claire Weeks hit home runs for D-C (19-12) in its nonconference win. Cassidy Randl (2B, 2 RBI) and Megan Thompson added 2 hits for the Chargers while winning pitcher Sydney Ruggles (9 Ks, 1 BB) also doubled.

Cary-Grove 8, Lakes 2: Jill Deering had 2 hits with a grand slam home run and 5 RBI as Cary-Grove (10-18) won this nonconference game. Also contributing for the Trojans were Katy Wierczorek (2 hits), Alina Krembuszewski (2 hits), Alyssa Gurgone (3 hits, 2B, RBI) and winning pitcher Taylor Langguth (2 hits), who allowed 8 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Aurora Christian 16, Chicago Hope 1: Janae Holloway and Noelle Chaney each had 2 hits with a double each as Aurora Christian won its opening round game in the Class 1A Somonauk regional. Millie Britt added a triple and an RBI for the Eagles (10-7), who play Somonauk on Saturday for the regional title. Tori Cammarano and Holloway combined on a 1-hitter in Wednesday's win.

Ridgewood 13, St. Edward 2: Jessy Kramp, Ashley Miller and Sarah Mendoza had the only hits for St. Edward (13-19, 8-4) in this Metro Suburban loss.
