Girls soccer: Burlington Central, Bartlett win regional openers

Burlington Central 11, IMSA 0: The second-seeded Rockets cruised over No. 8 IMSA on Rocket Hill to open Class 2A regional action. Jordan King led all scorers with a hat trick to go with 1 assist. Anna McMahon tallied 2 goals and 3 assists while Zoey Kollhoff had 2 goals and 1 assist. Abbi Ciganek, Sydney Pryor (1 assist), Krysten Pellikan (1 assist) and Megan Majewski (2 assists) also scored goals while Alexis Rosa registered 1 assist. Keeper Erin Rafferty's 2-save shutout also helped Central into Friday's regional final against No. 3 Dixon, which dispatched Hampshire 2-0.

Bartlett 3, West Chicago 0: The No. 6 Hawks (11-7-4) earned a Class 3A West Chicago regional over the host No. 12 Wildcats thanks to 2 goals from Jenna Dombrowski and 2 assists from Alyssa Modugno. Tabitha Evans added 1 goal while Mikayla Brown collected 1 assist. Teagan Noesen's 6 saves plus Nykia Wetterman's time in net earned a shutout for Bartlett, which will face off against No. 3 Batavia Friday in a rematch of last year's regional final. The Hawks took home the title with a 3-2 win. Batavia (13-3-2) was a 7-1 winner over No. 14 Hoffman Estates in the first of the doubleheader, snapping an 0-2-2 skid with the season on the line.
