Softball: Warren claims NSC crown

Warren's softball team wrapped up the North Suburban Conference championship with a 12-1 win over host Stevenson in five innings on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils finished 13-1 in the NSC.

Emma Oriatti was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Stevenson (13-17), which finished 4-10 in the NSC.

Wauconda 10, Grant 4: Hayley Redmann went 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI, as Wauconda earned a split of its regular-season series with Grant in Northern Lake County action.

Mallory Carver added a solo homer and single for Wauconda (5-7 NLCC). Carver, Sydney Rogers and Kelly Weller all went 2-for-4.

Libertyville 12, Zion-Benton 2: On Senior Day, senior Hannah Heraty led the host Wildcats to victory in their North Suburban finale.

Libertyville (25-5) finished 12-2 in the NSC, one game back of first-place Warren.

Heraty allowed 2 runs in 6 innings and struck out three with no walks in improving to 21-5. She also went 3-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Other seniors who contributed to the win included Kenzie Rother (2-for-3, 3 stolen bases), Lyndsey Lyon (2-for-3, homer, 4 RBI) and Maddie Hollinger (1-for-2). Sophomore Maggie Evers was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Huntley 8, Antioch 3: The visiting Red Raiders won the nonconference game to improve to 26-6.

Antioch (21-6) got home runs from Megan Lawrence and Avery Malicki (2-for-3).

Lake Zurich 5, Mundelein 3: Jessica Puccinelli went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and Sarah Schnecker was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the visiting Bears in the North Suburban finale.

Taylor Zelich went the distance in the circle for Lake Zurich (9-5 NSC), allowing just 2 singles, striking out seven and walking seven. She did not allow an earned run.

Kira Buckner was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and an RBI for Mundelein (9-5 NSC).

Vernon Hills 10, Grayslake North 9: Delaney Bowen homered, Elisa Handler was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and the Cougars captured the nonconference win.

Tatiana Guletsky was 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI for Vernon Hills.

Grace Brown hit her eighth home run of the year, a solo shot, for Grayslake North. Losing pitcher Ashton Moore was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, Becca Sosa also collected 2 RBI, and Kylie Conrad had a double.
