Baseball: Munoz leads Batavia past Elgin

Tyler Munoz went 3-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBI Tuesday to lead the Batavia baseball team to a 14-4 Upstate Eight River win over Elgin.

Adding to the offense for the Bulldogs (9-15, 6-12) were Jared Martin (2 hits, 2B), Glenn Albanese (2 hits), Jake Robinson (2 hits, RBI), Michael Downs (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and John Lemon (2 hits, HR, 4 RBI).

Robinson picked up the win on the mound, allowing 7 hits with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Jack Sitter had 3 hits and an RBI for Elgin (5-25, 3-20).

Larkin 17, Streamwood 11: Cy Kerber had a grand slam home run while Gunnar Boley had a home run, a triple and 6 RBI to lead Larkin (12-15, 8-13) to this UEC River win. Andy Bonnot (3 hits, 3 RBI) also homered for the Royals, Michael Rodriguez had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Jackson Reuter added 2 doubles. Josh Frazier picked up the win in relief. Jesse Rico had 2 hits with a home run and 3 RBI for Streamwood (14-14, 9-12) while Michael Pawilkowski added 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI and Jose Aguilar a double.

Bartlett 20, East Aurora 8: Frank Novello had a double, a grand slam homer and 5 RBI and Ryan Sharko added a home run and 3 RBI as Bartlett (17-12, 12-8) won this UEC Valley game. Also contributing for the Hawks were Eric Johansen (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Max Smithberg (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Martin Moreno (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI). Kade Turner earned the win on the mound.

South Elgin 12, Glenbard East 4: The UEC Valley champion Storm (18-4, 16-2) continued their winning ways as Cameron Kovanda (RBI), Kevin Barry (2B, 3B, 2 RBI) and Patrick Keaty (2B, 4 RBI) had 3 hits each. Nate Gomez added 2 hits to the win, as did Nick Poblocki (3 RBI) and Jack Watkins. Dylan Wells earned the win, allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in 5 innings.

West Aurora 9, West Chicago 4: Connor Palmby had 3 hits with an RBI and Alberto Martinez drove in 3 runs to lead West Aurora (9-21, 8-13) to a UEC Valley win. Aric Johnson (2 hits, RBI), David Woods and Cam Zimmerman each doubled for the Blackhawks. Jacob Gray was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings and allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Kaneland 5, Geneva 4: Jack Marshall hit a 2-run homer and struck out 7 on the mound as Kaneland (17-13) won this nonconference game. Luke Gomes added 2 hits for the Knights and Zach Farris had a double with 2 RBI. Noah Davison had a 3-run homer for Geneva (18-10).

Dundee-Crown 12, DeKalb 7: Brett Buske had 2 hits with a solo home run, Erik Hedmark added 3 hits and 2 RBI and Scott Wojcik doubled twice and drove in a run as D-C (13-15) won this nonconference game. Conor Ryan added a triple and an RBI for the Chargers, Ryan Denz had 2 hits and an RBI and Sean Jay had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Joey Marczyk was the winning pitcher and Benjamin Schilf earned the save.

ACC 25, Glenbard South 19: Michael Bieterman (3 hits, 3 RBI), Jimmy Laurenti (2 hits, 4 RBI) and winning pitcher Garrett St. Clair (2 hits, 4 RBI) all went deep for Aurora Central (20-8, 8-3) in this Metro Suburban game. Johnny Belskis (3 hits, 2 RBI), Hunter Darnell (2 hits, 2 RBI), Patrick Flanagan (2 RBI), Austin Berens (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Mac Doherty (2 RBI) and Kyle Nilo (2 RBI) also contributed for the Chargers.
