Softball: Waslawski throws no-hitter for St. Charles North
Jillian Waslawski threw a 5-inning no-hitter Friday as St. Charles North downed Streamwood 14-0 in an Upstate Eight River softball game.
Waslawski struck out 7 and walked none, coming an error away from a perfect game.
Natalie Walters (4 hits, RBI), Jordyn Wolfe (2 hits, 3 RBI), Allison Moberg (3 RBI) and Waslawski (2 hits, 3 RBI) led the offense for the North Stars (13-7, 8-5).
Burlington Central 6, ACC 1: Winning pitcher Danielle Yurgil had 2 hits including a home run as the Rockets (13-8) defeated Aurora Central in the opening round of the IC Catholic tournament. Julia Barnes added a triple for BC and Reily Gardner had 3 hits including a double. Jessica Eallonardo had a double and a triple for ACC (9-12).
Prairie Ridge 7, Huntley 6: Tiffany Giese (3 hits), Rylie Porretto (2 doubles) and Autumn Kasal (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) led Huntley (23-6, 13-2) in this 10-inning Fox Valley Conference loss.
Hampshire 10, McHenry 3: Morgan Haefling had 3 hits and an RBI while Delaney Rummel added 2 hits with a double and an RBI, Erin Doyle had a double and Peyton DeChant drove in 2 runs to lead Hampshire (22-9, 12-5) to an FVC win. Jasmine Lopez allowed just 1 hit in 4⅓ innings to earn the win.
Cary-Grove 11, Maine East 1: At the Fenton tournament, Rachel Stanley allowed 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks in 5 innings for Cary-Grove (7-16). Katy Wierczorek (2B, RBI), Alina Krembuszewski (2 RBI), Alyssa Gurgone (2 hits, RBI), Jill Deering (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Nicollette Richardi (2 hits, 2 RBI) led the Trojans' offense.
Willowbrook 5, St. Edward 3: Also at the Fenton tournament, Ashley Miller (2B) had 3 hits and Devyn Ernst 2 hits for St. Edward (12-16). Emily Stapay added a double and an RBI for the Green Wave.
