Softball: Streamwood sinks Larkin

Melissa Hart went 3-for-3 and Taylyr Crocilla and Ariana Wolfard combined to hold Larkin to 5 hits in the Sabres' 3-1 Upstate Eight victory Monday. Laura Dietrich (2-3), Crocilla (1-2) and Rebecca Daley (1-3, RBI) all contributed to the Streamwood (10-9, 7-6) win. For Larkin (7-18, 3-9), Kiara Villa took the loss, allowing 7 hits with 3 strikeouts. Haley Bohne had Larkin's only RBI in the fifth inning driving in Morgan Poile.

Dundee-Crown 6, McHenry 4: The Chargers (16-11, 7-7 in the Fox Valley) pounded 12 hits led by Deanna Origer and Sydney Ruggles who both went 3-for-4. Hannah Gestrich added 2 hits, Kayla Sjodin drove in 2 runs, and Megan Emerson and Cassidy Randl both added an RBI. Ruggles earned the win, striking out 11 and scattering 11 hits and 4 walks.

Cary-Grove 7, Jacobs 5: The Trojans (5-15, 5-8) scored four runs in the seventh for the comeback FVC win. Kelly Johnson delivered the big blow, a 3-run home run, for a 6-5 lead. Johnson finished 2-for-4 with 6 RBI. Katy Wierczorek also had 2 hits. Rachel Stanley struck out nine over 5 innings for the win. Kerri Healy went 3-for-4 for the Golden Eagles (10-10-1, 5-8), and Jess Mrzlak added 2 hits.

St. Edward 12, Elmwood Park 8: Emily Stapay homered and went 3-for-4, drove in 3 runs and scored 3 runs for the Green Wave (11-15, 8-7) in Metro Suburban action. Jackie Boydston (1-4, 2 runs), Sarah Mendoza (2-4, 2 runs), Jessy Kramp (1-4, 2 RBI), Devyn Ernst (2-4), Ashley Miller (2-4, 2 runs) and Paige Jones (2-4, 2 RBI) all had big games. Kramp pitched the first 6 1/3 innings, allowing 13 walks, 7 hits and 7 earned runs before Stapay recorded the final 2 outs.

St. Charles East 14, Glenbard East 0: Delaney Devor (4 IP, 7 strikeouts) and Krista Sbarra combined on a 2-hit shutout, lifting the Saints (22-5, 10-3) to an Upstate Eight win. Rylee Stout slugged another home run and drove in 3 runs, Sarah Kreiner and Devor both had 2 hits, Maddie Candre, Paige Ligocki and Maddy Stout scored 2 runs, and Sara Campagna went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Maddy Stout added 3 RBI.

Geneva 7, South Elgin 3: The Vikings (24-2, 13-0) stayed perfect in the Upstate Eight, breaking open a 3-1 game with 4 runs in the sixth. Annika Radabaugh and Alyssa Kramer both had 2 hits, and Ali Dierks, Sam Keller and Katie Keller all drove in 2 runs. McKayla Timmons and Haley Szubert both had 3 hits for the Storm (12-12, 6-5) against winning pitcher Emily Viebrock.

St. Francis 9, Aurora Christian 4: Caroline Caesar had 3 hits for the Spartans while Grace Folino went 3-for-3 with 2 runs for the Eagles (9-7). Janae Holloway homered and drove in 2 runs, and Tori Henning and Raeann Holloway had Aurora Christian's other RBI.
