Baseball: WW South, Hinsdale Central, Lake Park win

WW South 5, Metea Valley 3:

The Tigers (8-17, 5-14) won the DuPage Valley Conference game with 2 runs in the top of the seventh, breaking a 3-3 tie on Jared Smaga's 2-run single. Ryan Simak also drove in 2 runs. Brandon Luna pitched 2⅓ innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. Danny Zorn went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for Metea Valley (10-13, 7-11).

Hinsdale Central 10, York 9:

John Harzich singled in the winning run for the Red Devils (14-6, 7-3) in the bottom of the eighth inning in the West Suburban Silver. Andrew Zapka, who earned the win with 2 scoreless innings of relief, went 4-for-5 with a double, home run and 3 RBI. Andrew Deardurff and Ian Steinorth drove in 2 runs for York (18-7, 9-6).

Lake Park 10, Glenbard North 0:

Three Lake Park pitchers, including winner A.J. Dallman, combined on a 6-inning 4-hitter in the DuPage Valley. Matt Latoria, who drove in 2 runs, Jarod Pankau and Rory Marino had 2 hits for the Lancers (9-12, 5-10). Anthony Sottile and Zach Bachara had 2 hits for Glenbard North (9-14, 4-11).

Timothy Christian 14, Elmwood Park 4:

The Trojans (14-8, 5-3) ended the Metro Suburban Conference game by scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jimmy Allen doubled twice and drove in 4 runs while Brian Schiff went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Jakob Loerop was the winning pitcher.
