Softball: Hudgins' heroics lift Warren

Emily Hudgins homered, singled and knocked in 4 runs, and Warren edged visiting Lake Zurich 8-7 in North Suburban Conference softball action Tuesday.

Caitlyn Britton and Kelly Beck doubled for the Blue Devils.

Amanda Guercio (2-for-3, 2 RBI) hit her 16th home run of the season for Lake Zurich (11-10, 6-3). Stephanie Keefe was 3-for-4 with a double for the Bears, who also got 2 hits apiece from Megan Croke and Elizabeth Chialdikas (double). Jessica Puccinelli doubled and drove in 2 runs.

Antioch 10, Grant 5: Avery Malicki hit a pair of home runs and drove in 3 runs, as the visiting Sequoits beat the Bulldogs in Northern Lake County action for the second time this season.

Piper Foote was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases for the Sequoits, whose other offensive contributors included Jill Foote (2-for-4, double), Ashley Stephens (2-for-4, 3 RBI) and Carlie Gaylord (3-for-4, RBI). Stephanie Bonaguidi pitched 6 innings and earned the win.

For Grant, Becca Wold (double, 2 RBI), Madeline Quinn (double) and Gabby Rogalevich were all 2-for-3.

Grayslake Central 14, Round Lake 3: Winning pitcher Grace Bradley went 2-for-3 with a double, as the Rams won in the Northern Lake County game in five innings.

Nicole Buerger had a single and 4 RBI for Grayslake Central (19-5, 8-1), and Morgan Smigielski singled and knocked in three.

Charla Ryan homered for Round Lake, and Brianna McGinley was 2-for-3.

Zion-Benton 14, Stevenson 8: Mic Faunce homered twice for the second day in a row, but the Patriots still lost in North Suburban action.

Faunce finished with 3 hits and 4 RBI. Emma Oriatti and Alana Labaschin (2 RBI) each had a pair of hits for Stevenson (10-13, 3-7).

Libertyville 10, Lake Forest 0: Lyndsey Lyon was 3-for-3, and the Wildcats got 2-for-3 efforts from Kenzie Rother, Lauren Heraty and Emily Hilldale (3 RBI) in the North Suburban game.

Hannah Heraty improved to 17-4 in the circle for Libertyville (19-4, 8-1). She allowed 2 hits in 5 innings, striking out eighth and walking one. She also doubled and knocked in a pair of runs.
