Girls soccer: Olson's exploits elevate Libertyville

Maddi Olson scored a hat trick and assisted on another goal, figuring on all of her team's tallies, as Libertyville blanked host Mundelein 4-0 in North Suburban Conference girls soccer action Tuesday night.

Makenna Yoor and Morgan Verbeten assisted on Olson's pair of first-half goals. Olson scored unassisted in the second half, before assisting on Taylor Underwood's tally.

Kendall Edwards made 2 saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Warren 8, Waukegan 1: Kaitlyn Chomko had 3 goals and 2 assists, and Lindsey Hardiman added 2 goals and 2 assists for the Blue Devils in North Suburban action.

Ayusha Ayalur, Courtney Chomko (assist) and Alliyah Parker (2 assists) also scored for Warren (15-1-1, 4-0-1). Natalie McNally contributed an assist, while Skylar Reilly and Lydia Sundberg (2 saves each) shared the shutout.

Lake Zurich 2, Stevenson 1: The Bears led the North Suburban match 1-0 at halftime.

Rebecca Kubin and Kristin Brousseau scored for Lake Zurich (14-3, 4-1). Kyra Ripoli and Erin Neeson had assists, and keeper Madison Hart made 11 saves.

With starting keeper Hannah Petrich out with the flu, Zoey Friedman had 8 saves in goal for Stevenson (2-7-2, 1-3).

Wauconda 7, Round Lake 1: Kayla Wisniewski scored a hat trick and notched her 15th assist, a single-season school record, as the Bulldogs cruised in Northern Lake County action.

Erica Miller added 2 goals, including one on a penalty kick, and an assist. Wauconda (13-0-1) also got goals from Megan Sinnott and freshman Oceanna Pfeiffer.

Grayslake Central 8, North Chicago 0: The Rams led the Northern Lake County match 6-0 at halftime.

Vernon Hills 2, Highland Park 1: The Cougars moved to 7-4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Central Suburban League.

Vernon Hills scored in the last 1:30 of the game, as Abby Kempf recorded her seventh goal of the season. Alex Ludolph earned the assist.

Ludolph also assisted on Marley Reback's goal.

"I thought we had many grade-A chances to put the ball away tonight, but just couldn't find the back of the net throughout the game," Cougars coach Mike McCaulou said. "Highland Park's goalkeeper was outstanding and give credit to them all game long as they battled for the entire 80. I was happy with our performance, and that is the game of soccer when you don't take the early chances in a game. Our girls have battled all year long and we hope to continue to improve the next few weeks to get us ready for the postseason."

Grayslake North 4, Grant 0: Sydney Paez had a goal and an assist for the Knights in the Northern Lake County match.

Lauren Davis, Cammy Cowperthwaite and Morgan Lyon also scored for Grayslake North (9-4-2).

"We are happy with the way we played tonight, as it was a well-rounded team effort," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said. "Our girls played with more consistent purpose when we had the ball, which allowed our girls to play with the confidence needed to find success."

Kaitlyn Dameron, Jordyn Gerdes and Lauren Hansen added assists. Emily Dunne (1 save) got the shutout in net.
