Baseball: Marks, Libertyville top Mundelein

Dan Marks went 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI, and Libertyville's baseball team beat Mundelein 6-4 Tuesday to move into a first-place tie with the Mustangs in the North Suburban Conference.

Libertyville (11-2 NSC) also got doubles from Jackson Petersen, Tommy Rigali and Ben Arnold. Riley Gowens allowed 4 runs in 5 innings, striking out eight and walking three, to earn the win. Collin Fields, the Wildcats' third pitcher, struck out the final batter of the game to pick up the save.

Steven Sanchez homered and went 2-for-2 for Mundelein (21-2, 11-2 NSC). Brendan Murphy was 2-for-4 and Jeff Morton doubled for the Mustangs. Murphy pitched 5⅔ innings, giving up 6 runs (4 earned).

Lakes 5, Antioch 4 (11 innings): Stephen Mogged was 3-for-5 with a double, as the Eagles outlasted the Sequoits in a Northern Lake County game that required extra innings.

Jason Vople went 2-for-5 for Lakes (6-6 NLCC), which also got doubles from Quinn McQuade and Simon Varitek. Brandon Khan had a single and 2 RBI.

Alex Unekis was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles for Antioch (10-9, 8-4). Colin Wieska had a double and an RBI.

Grayslake North 3, Grant 2: The visiting Knights earned the Northern Lake County win, despite managing just 3 hits.

Grayslake North improved to 7-3 in the NLCC.

Ben Kusiak was 3-for-4 with a triple for Grant (8-2 NLC). Ray Guardado went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Henry Kusiak was 1-for-3 with a double.

Warren 7, Waukegan 2: Tanner Dyer went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI to lead the Blue Devils in the North Suburban contest.

Warren got 2-for-4 efforts from Victor Perez (2 doubles, RBI) and Robert Archbold (double). Evan Hill (1-for-1) doubled and drove in 2 runs.

Matt Langevin pitched 4⅔ innings in earning the win.

Wauconda 4, Grayslake Central 3: John Herbst was 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs in the Northern Lake County game.

Wauconda (4-5 NLCC) got 2 hits apiece from Jake Harmon and Dan Sperling (double).

Grayslake Central (4-6) received 2-for-3 performances from Nic Presutti, Justin Shepley (double, 2 RBI) and Ben Fitzgerald (double).

Stevenson 5, Lake Zurich 3: Jack Housinger's 4-for-4 day, which included a double and 3 RBI), helped carry the visiting Patriots to the North Suburban win.

Michael Marchese (2-for-3) and Henry Marchese both doubled for Stevenson (7-7 NSC), which beat the Bears for the second day in a row.

Austin Matuszewski hit a solo home run for Lake Zurich (6-7). Michael Chialdikas (2 RBI) and Shane Nolan (double) were both 2-for-3 for the Bears.
