Baseball: Waubonsie Valley, Glenbard East, York win

Waubonsie Valley 4, WW South 3:

After the Tigers (7-15, 4-12) tied the DuPage Valley game with 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh, Waubonsie Valley (11-10, 7-9) won in it the 10th on an error that scored Eric Esch. Zach Laws was the winner in relief, striking out six in 2.2 innings. Jared Smaga drove in 2 runs for WW South.

Glenbard East 8, Streamwood 5:

The Rams (14-9, 7-3) broke out to a 5-0 lead after two innings in their Upstate Eight victory. Nate Bertuca and Bret Bushka drove in 3 runs while Tommy Wilkans went 3-for-3. Steve O'Brien, Austin Novak and Jack Crackel combined on the mound.

York 9, Willowbrook 6:

The Dukes (17-5) trailed 5-2 before scoring 3 runs in the sixth inning and 4 runs in the seventh. Nick Lee and Elliott Achepohl each had 2 RBI, with Mike Bernal adding 2 hits. Tamaine Durr was the winning pitcher in relief. M.J. Ranieri and Kyle Ferguson had 2 hits and an RBI for Willowbrook (15-5).

Metea Valley 16, Lake Park 2:

The Mustangs (9-11, 6-9) won the DuPage Valley game in six innings as Andrew Cronin drove in 5 runs and Matt Vass had 4 RBI. Ashton Creal had 3 hits at the top of the order. Mitch Reyes went the distance on the mound. Matt Latoria went 3-for-3 for Lake Park (8-11, 4-9).

Addison Trail 11, Proviso West 0:

Simon Marinelli drove in 3 runs to spark the Blazers (10-8). Pitchers Jack Kalbas and Ricky Vargas allowed only 3 hits in the five-inning win.

Glenbard West 15, Proviso East 6:

Cole Brady had 2 hits and 5 RBI while Sam Kaske and Grant Lalla combined for 5 RBI in the victory for the Hilltoppers (8-13).

Wheaton North 8, Glenbard North 2:

A 5-run top of the fourth broke open the DuPage Valley game for the Falcons (11-9, 9-4). Andrew Nelson and Tyler Woltman each had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Jackson Pastore pitched 5 innings to earn the win. Anthony Sottile went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Glenbard North (8-13, 3-10).

Downers South 6, Downers North 4:

The Mustangs (15-8) broke a 4-4 tie with 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Michael Wagner went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Mikey Palenik was the winning pitcher in relief. David Giuliano and Adam Bandola had 2 hits for Downers North (13-8).
