Baseball: Glenbard East, WW South, Downers Grove South win

Glenbard East 3, Bartlett 0:

Nate Bertuca fired a 1-hitter with 3 strikeouts and no walks as the Rams (13-9, 6-3) took two of three in the Upstate Eight Valley series. Jack Oberli went 3-for-3 at the top of the order. Bertuca drove in 2 runs.

WW South 4, Naperville Central 3:

The Tigers (7-14, 4-10) trailed 3-1 before scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Griffen Pschigoda, Brad Novak and Patrick McGarry each drove in runs. Matt Scherrman pitched into the sixth inning to get the win, and Caleb Larson closed it out for the save. Jack Hughes went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for Naperville Central (13-7, 9-6).

Downers South 4, Addison Trail 2:

The Mustangs (14-8, 8-3) scored twice in the top of the eighth to win in the West Suburban Gold. Will Glocker singled in the go-ahead run and the second run scored on a wild pitch. Michael Greco went 3-for-4 while Mikey Palenik was the winning pitcher in relief. Ricky Perez went 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBI for Addison Trail (9-8, 6-3).

Naperville North 5, Glenbard North 4:

The Huskies (9-9, 9-3) won the DuPage Valley game on Brennan Simek's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh after Jack Whitley's bunt single tied the game. Matt Schwartz pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Waubonsie Valley 7, Metea Valley 6:

Chris Ralph, who had 3 hits, and Johnny Johnson each had 2 RBI for the Warriors (10-10, 6-9) in the DuPage Valley victory. Jackson Melton was the winning pitcher in relief. Jake Kmiecik and Nick Heger combined for 5 RBI for Metea Valley (8-11, 5-9).

Benet 2, Glenbard West 1:

Trailing 1-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Redwings (14-4) scored twice to win the game. Brandon Gorz singled in the tying run and Jack Schneider followed with the game-winning sacrifice fly. Six pitchers combined on the mound, capped by winner Nick Imhoff. Losing pitcher Sam Fenske allowed only 5 hits and went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate for Glenbard West (7-13).

Timothy Christian 5, Glenbard South 4:

Jimmy Allen's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Trojans (12-7) the victory. Josh Anderson homered and drove in 2 runs. Shaun Van Tholen was the winning pitcher in relief. Robbie McGimpsey had 2 RBI for Glenbard South (8-10).

Montini 16, Bishop McNamara 4:

The Broncos (10-10. 5-5) broke out to a 4-0 first-inning lead and cruised to the five-inning Chicago Catholic League win. Alex Luka and Nick Malik combined for 5 hits and 5 RBI. Danny Mallory and Seth Quick combined on the mound.
