Baseball: Stevenson's late surge leads to victory over Wildcats

Stevenson's baseball team rallied with a 3-run sixth inning and a 2-run seventh to get a 6-2 victory over host Libertyville in North Suburban Conference baseball on Tuesday.

Henry Marchese led off the game with a homer for Stevenson (11-8), which also got big results from Charlie Bourbon (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Evan Kiah (2-for-4) and Charles Ling (2-for-3).

Hayden Brotz tossed the first 4 innings and earned the win after allowing 2 hits and no runs; Daniel Lubelfield got the final three outs for the Pats.

Libertyville slipped to 15-5.

Mundelein 4, Warren 3 (8): Pinch runner Ryan Antenore scored on a pass ball in the bottom of the eighth to keep Mundelein's winning streak alive.

The Mustangs are now 20-0 on the season and 11-0 in the North Suburban Conference.

Ryan Patel was the winning pitcher. He struck out the side in the top of the eighth to open the door for Mundelein.

Steven Sanchez and Nick Stricker each had 2 hits for Mundelein.

For Warren, Tanner Dyer had 3 hits, including a triple and Victor Perez had 2 hits.

Vernon Hills 11, Maine East 0 (5): Brad Larsen threw five scoreless innings allowing 2 hits while striking out 9 and walking 2 to lead Vernon Hills.

Drew Winegardner and Joe Rangel led the way offensively with 2 RBI each.

Vernon Hills improves to 10-9-1 and 4-2 in the Central Suburban League.

Lakes 12, Round Lake 2: Lakes scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to run away with the win. The Eagles finished with 11 hits.

Wauconda 4, Grayslake North 0: Brock Glavey, John Gerbst and Dan Sperling each had 2 hits to lead Wauconda to the win.

Winning pitcher Jacob Bicknase had 4 strikeouts over seven innings.

Lake Forest 11, Lake Zurich 0: Lake Zurich suffered the shutout in North Suburban Conference action.

Antioch 7, Grayslake Central 5: Patrick Day hit a home run to lead Antioch.

Coby Moe had 2 hits for Grayslake Central.

Notre Dame 8, Carmel 3: Eddie Pietschmann had 2 hits for Carmel.

Libertyville 7, Stevenson 4: On Monday, Ryan Greenberg went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI, as the visiting Wildcats won the North Suburban game.

Riley Gowens allowed 4 runs in 5 innings in earning the win. He struck out six and walked one.

Charlie Ling was 2-for-3 for Stevenson. Henry Marchese doubled, and Jack Housinger had a single and 2 RBI.
