Paul Valade was named the Lake County Photo Editor in 2008 after working as a staff photographer for the Daily Herald for 13 years. His daily duties include planning photo assignments for the Lake County photo staff, working with editors and reporters to arrange photo coverage and shooting news, sports, features and business assignments.

Prior to his employment at the Daily Herald, Valade was a staff photographer in Crystal Lake at the Northwest Herald. He worked there for nine years. He enjoys covering the day-to-day happenings in Lake County and contributes to the Daily Herald's online news photo coverage through his photos and videos.

Valade is a member of the National Press Photographers Association, the Illinois Press Photographers Association and the Associated Press Photo Managers organization. He has won numerous awards through photo contests sponsored by these organizations. Valade is a journalism graduate from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
