Dave Heun has more than 30 years of experience in reporting about all facets of life in the Tri-Cities area of Kane County. He worked for the College of DuPage Courier newspaper and the Elmhurst Press prior to entering Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he was the sports editor at the Daily Egyptian before graduation.

Heun worked as a reporter, sports editor, managing editor and editor at Chronicle Newspapers in St. Charles for 24 years, before becoming a marketing director at a medical equipment company and a freelance columnist and sports writer at the Daily Herald in 2003. His work at the Chronicle was recognized in various press association contests, including best sports section, best editorial writing and general excellence.

A Chicago native, Heun lived in Naperville and graduated from Naperville Central High School, where he had his first introduction to journalism as a member of the Smoke Signals school newspaper. He moved to St. Charles after getting married, and his family currently lives in Geneva.
