Naperville, utility association offering scholarships

Naperville is holding a scholarship competition for high school seniors whose parents or guardians are city utility customers.

Offered in partnership with the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association, the program aims to recognize scholastic achievement and raise awareness about the issues facing public power municipalities and consumers, according to a city news release.

Eligible students are asked to submit an application, along with an essay of 500 words or less addressing their choice of a utilty-related question, officials said. The top four applicants will receive a finalist certificate and a $1,000 scholarship.

Applications and essays are due March 12. Applications are available at www.imea.org/IMUA_Scholarship.aspx. For more information, contact DeeDee Bunch at IMUA at (217) 789-4632 or dbunch@imea.org.
