Grayslake home uninhabitable after fire

A Grayslake home was rendered uninhabitable after a fire Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District got a call at 4:49 p.m. about the fire in the 600 block of Oakwood Drive, Lt. David Torkilsen said.

The residents were out of the house by the time firefighters arrived, he said.

The fire was in the attic space; firefighters got it under control within 20 minutes and were on the call for about an hour and 15 minutes total, he said.

A woman was treated at the scene but declined to be transported to the hospital, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
