Oakton hosting panel discussion on community impacts of legal pot

Oakton Community College is inviting the public to attend a panel discussion to learn more about how the legalization of recreational marijuana is affecting their communities.

The free event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in Rooms P103-104 at Oakton's Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.

"With the cannabis culture evolving drastically in Illinois, we believe it's our responsibility as the community's college to provide a forum to educate the public as perceptions evolve and laws change," said Ruben Howard II, Oakton's director of Workforce and Strategic Partnerships.

Howard will moderate the discussion, which will include representatives from public health, law enforcement, the workforce, social services, education and the cannabis industry.

Refreshments will be served and seating is limited. To register, visit oaktoncannabispanel.eventbrite.com.
