Lake County sheriff's deputy, sergeant honored by Waukegan Exchange Club

A Lake County sheriff's deputy and sergeant were honored by the Waukegan Exchange Club during a ceremony Tuesday.

Sgt. Gianni Giamberduca was selected as Command Officer of the Year and Deputy David McNichol was selected as Deputy of the Year by the club.

Giamberduca was nominated for his dedication and commitment leading the Special Investigations Group. The group consists of 20 detectives and crime analysts, comprising law-enforcement from both the federal and local levels. Giamberduca focused the efforts of the group to aggressively seek and arrest drug pushers, gun traffickers, and human traffickers.

McNichol was nominated for his long-standing devotion to the Lake County community. He makes it a priority to always go the extra mile to help the underprivileged and volunteers countless hours of his time and has raised thousands of dollars to promote Special Olympics, officials said.
