Cupich asks Chicago-area parishes to ring bells for Notre Dame Wednesday morning

As a sign of solidarity with Catholics and non-Catholics around the world still reeling from Monday's fire at Notre Dame cathedral, all Archdiocese of Chicago parishes, churches and worship sites will ring their bells Wednesday morning, according to a news release issued by the Archdiocese late Tuesday night.

Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, asked that the bells be rung at 11:50 a.m., the time locally when Monday's fire broke out. The tolling church bells are a sign of solidarity with the dioceses of France, particularly with the Archdiocese of Paris, according to the news release.
