One hospitalized in Libertyville two-car crash that snarled traffic

A two-car crash during the evening rush hour at the intersection of Butterfield Road and Route 176 in Libertyville sent one person to the hospital and snarled traffic for around 30 minutes.

Libertyville Police Lt. Ed Sindles said the crash was between a Honda Odyssey and a Ford F150 at around 4:49 p.m., but declined to elaborate on what caused the crash.

Both vehicles needed to be towed away. Traffic on Butterfield Road ground to a virtual standstill while first responders dealt with the crash's aftermath.

Sindle said they were able to clear the scene in around a half-hour.

The injured person was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Sindle said.

The crash remains under investigation.
