New Wheeling Township trustee appointed

Patty Kozicki of Prospect Heights has been appointed to the Wheeling Township board, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Jeff Battinus.

Kozicki is a former executive at Sears Holdings Corp., where she was creative director of store design. A 25-year resident of Prospect Heights and member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish, Kozicki is married to Cook County Judge Steven Kozicki and has three children.

Battinus, of Buffalo Grove, resigned from the township board after announcing in May that he and his wife Mary, the Republican nominee in the 57th state House District race, were moving out of state. He won election to the board in 2017 after an earlier stint on the Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 school board.
