Enjoy Libertyville's Dog Days of Summer July 6-8

The 10th annual Dog Days of Summer will come to Libertyville from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, July 6; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8, at Cook Park, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. This year's event will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus Council 3674. Admission is free.

One of the highlights of the annual event is the DockDogs Big Air jumping competition, in which both local and nationally ranked dogs will run down a 40-foot dock and try to jump the farthest into a 27,000-gallon pool of water in the middle of Church Street.

There will also be retrieving and vertical jump competitions.

Advance registration is $27 per team for all competitions, except for youth registration for the Big Air jumping, which is $12. On-site registration is $30, or $15 for Big Air youth registration.

In addition to the dog jumping, on Saturday and Sunday, Cook Park will be filled with vendors, demonstrations, and other pet-related events and activities.

Around 30 vendors are expected, including veterinarians, suppliers of pet merchandise, and even a chiropractor.

A raffle will be held for a Furbo camera and food dispenser, which lets a pet owner monitor and feed a pet while away from home.

Funds raised will go to the pet food pantry at Our House of Hope Rescue in Libertyville, as well as other local charities, especially those that help animals.
