Armed man taken into custody

A man armed with a gun and experiencing a mental crisis was taken into custody by Lake County Sheriff deputies Thursday, authorities said. Deputies were called to a residence on the 6500 block of Stockbridge Lane in Long Grove about 5:30 a.m. where they found a 33-year-old man in a heated argument with family members. The man left the residence and quickly returned and pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband. He left the house, entered a vehicle, and drove erratically at a high rate of speed, authorities said. The man drove to a business on the 400 block of Washington Boulevard in Mundelein, where he was taken into custody, authorities said. He was transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, authorities said. Deputies will speak with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office regarding possible charges.
