1 dead, 1 hurt in separate Aurora shootings

A 29-year-old Aurora man died Thursday afternoon after being shot in the early morning hours at an apartment building on the 900 block of Aurora Avenue, police said.

Sergio Orozco, of the 1100 block of Brunswick Lane, was shot around 2:30 a.m. and pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m.

Police said the suspect, who was wearing dark clothes and had his face covered, ran away.

A second shooting was reported around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, when a 19-year-old Aurora man was wounded by flying glass while his car was stopped at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Hill Avenue.

The attacker was driving a silver or light blue vehicle that pulled up alongside the victim.

The victim suffered shallow wounds to his neck and shoulder from flying glass. He was treated at the scene.

The victim's 8-month-old daughter was in the back seat at the time but was not injured.

Investigations continue into both cases.
