North Aurora police ID man who fell in river, died

North Aurora police have identified the man who fell in the Fox River Sunday afternoon and subsequently died.

He is Edward A. Poe, 39, of Aurora.

Poe was walking with a woman along the river when police believe he suffered "an unknown medical event" and fell in the river.

He was found facedown about 25 yards off the east bank, a quarter-mile north of a dam.

An officer swam to get him and pulled him out with help from other North Aurora officers and a state trooper.

Poe was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
